go on是“继续”（continue）的意思
  例如：
  He（Mr. Tortoise） looks at Mr. Hareand goes on.
  它（乌龟）看了看野兔便继续（向前走）了。
  go on doing something继续做某事
  （continue doing without break）例如：
  He went on writing the letter.他继续写信。
  这句相当于“He went on with theletter.”的意思。
  go on to do something接着做某事（continue to doafter a break）例如：
  But Marx went on toexplain that he was nottoo sure about two things——thegrammar and some of the idioms.不过，他接着说明他在语法和某些习惯语这两方面还是不大有把握。
  go on doing something与go on todo something的区别是：前者是表示一个动作继续不断地进行下去，亦即某件事未做完，继续把它做完。后者是表示结束了一个动作，又开始另一个动作，亦即做完了一件事继续做另一件事。
  go on doing something与go onwith something意思相当。
  go on除了有“继续”一义之外，还有“发生”（happen, takeplace）意思。例如：
  What's going on overthere?
