hard与hardly
  hard——作副词用的意思是w ith greateffort（用大力气），在修饰不同的动词有不同的汉译，参见下面句子
  ( 1 ) They study English veryhard
  他们努力学习英语。
  ( 1 ) The baby looked at me andcried harder and harder.
  这婴儿看一看我哭得更厉害。
  ( 3 ) The baby crocodile thoughthard, then he had an idea.
  小鳄鱼用心想，于是想出了一个主意。
  ( 4 ) It rained hard yesterday.
  昨天下了大雨。
  hard也可以作形容词用，其意思difficult, not easy例如：
  It is hard to answer thisquestion,
  这问题很难回答。hard还可作软硬的“硬”解。如：
  which is the hardest, steel, woodor rubber?
  哪一个最硬，钢、木或橡胶？
  Ha rdly——作副词用是almost not（几乎不）的意思。例如：
  ( 1 ) I could hardly lift the box,it was very heavy.
  我几乎不能抬起这箱子，它太重了。
  ( 2 ) You are so big and the jaris so small that it could hardly holdone of your feet.
  你的个子这么大，坛子这么小，它甚至盛不下你的一只脚。
  ( 3 ) After a week's
  holiday he had hardly anymoney left.
  一周假期之后。他几乎没剩下多少钱了 。 (only just a little)
  记住：hard是“努力地”，“困难的”，“硬的”的意思，而hardly是“几乎不”的意思。
